The autumn term is a new and exciting experience for the children, and also forms the beginning of their school journey.
The children will be supported in settling into their new environment and learn about many different things. Our first topic is all about ourselves and the uniqueness of us all. We find out about numerous festivals and communities, and the children enjoy participating in events such as Harvest, bonfire night, Divali and Remembrance through, music, dance and role-play.
Our next topic is ‘Colours of the World’ and we start this with the children coming into school one specific day wearing their favourite colour clothes. We explore colours in the environment and through reading stories including ‘Elmer’ and ‘The Mixed-up Chameleon’.
After half-term we shall be looking at ‘Light and Dark’, and we learn about seasonal changes and nocturnal animals.
Towards the end of term we find out about Christmas through all areas of the foundation stage curriculum and enjoy learning and performing songs together.
