By registering your child for our school milk scheme they will receive a 189ml (third of a pint) carton of semi-skimmed milk every day. This is delivered fresh and chilled to their classroom every day.
How much does it cost?
Thanks to government subsidies, school milk is free for all under-fives and is subsided for children aged five or older. Even though they receive free milk, under 5’s need to be registered by the parent with Cool Milk (see below).
Why should I register my child?
School milk provides your child with essential nutrients. It is also rehydrating and energy boosting, helping to bridge the long gap between breakfast and lunch so children stay focused.

SCHOOL UNIFORM
What is the school uniform?
We have a school uniform which we encourage all the children to wear. This is black shoes, a grey skirt, pinafore dress or trousers with red or white polo shirts and red jumpers/cardigans/sweatshirts. Jumpers, cardigans, sweatshirts, polo-shirts and PE t-shirts may be bought from the suppliers listed below. They can be with the school logo or without, new or pre-loved (please see our School Uniform Policy for further information). Cotton shorts or dresses in red and white may be worn in the summer. Please make sure that all of these items are clearly named as school cannot be responsible for the loss of unnamed garments.
To ensure safety in PE, children should have bare feet or wear plimsolls with elasticated fronts (Reception children use plimsolls, KS1 children - Years 1 and 2- wear velcro trainers) with t-shirts and shorts. All jewellery must be removed by the parent/carer before school on PE days. Please ask your child's teacher when those will be. Please see our Prospectus for full details of our PE uniform.

Labelling of School Uniform
Please label all your child's items as these can otherwise end up in lost property. Our PTFA is part of a fundraising initiative run by Stikins who make labels for school clothing, lunchboxes, etc. They do not need sewing or ironing on and do not come off in the washing machine or tumble drier. If you would like to order labels or find out further information, please follow this link and quote our school reference code 3182:

SCHOOL'S GOLDEN RULES
Our school has five Golden Rules:
Our school has five Golden Rules:
These are linked to our five school Christian values:
In Foundation Stage (Reception classes) we introduce the Golden Rules gradually during the autumn term. As in Key Stage 1, we have Golden Time on Friday afternoons when the whole class have a special activity together. All of the children take part in this. We recognise that our children are still learning to follow rules, so we use a class ladder system for rewarding good behaviour and to give them ‘thinking’ time to help them reflect if they have difficulty following the rules. We also give stars on Class Dojo weekly to reward children for following the Golden Rules. They do not lose their star for minor things and class teachers will communicate any issues that have arisen.
In Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) children who follow the Golden Rules are rewarded with half an hour of Golden Time on Friday afternoons. Children can choose Golden Time activities such as parachute games, large play equipment, dressing up, construction toys, library, puppets and many more. Children who do not keep the rules may lose Golden Time in five minute slots. They do not lose Golden Time for minor things, only when they seriously break the Golden Rules. Children also receive Class Dojo points on Fridays for following the Golden Rules. Therefore, you will know how your child has behaved all week.
Behaviour in the school is excellent because of this very clear, consistent approach. When children do lose Golden Time, we always start afresh the following week, so they can move on from earlier mistakes. This approach works best when staff and parents support each other consistently.
Gold Book Assemblies
Children who have done something noteworthy, special or kind during the week can receive a Gold Book Certificate at our Gold Book Assembly on Friday mornings. They then take their certificate to share at home. Children here have lots to be proud of and we try our best to acknowledge this as much as possible. Class teachers give stickers and stamps. The headteacher has special stickers and often has visits to her office by children who have done excellent work. Any member of staff can nominate a child for special consideration. 4+ children will join Gold Book Assembly after Christmas to ensure equality for all.
All of this is planned to ensure Burbage C of E Infant School is a great place to be for children and adults. School should be a special experience with many happy memories and we are working towards this for every child.
